Banghwasuryujeong, located on a high cliff adjacent to the east of Suwonseong Hwahongmun Gate, is one of the pavilions built when Suwonseong Wall was built in 1794.
In fact, the official name is ‘Dongbukgaknu’, but it was given the name Banghwasuryujeong due to its outstanding scenery, befitting the meaning of “looking for flowers and playing along the willows.”
Thanks to Banghwasuryujeong’s location within Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, it is surrounded by a fortress wall and there is a large round pond called ‘Yongyeon’ in front, so visitors can enjoy a picnic with a unique feel that is different from other places.
